Ceci Iñiguez currently works with her family at IAAP. She graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word with degrees in Communication Arts and Spanish American Literature, with a minor in photography. Ceci ran cross country and track four years in college and still enjoys running and competing in roadraces. After many years working different running events with IAAP she decided to organize her own race – Día de los Muertos Night Run. This event changed her life, and soon after her beautiful experience as a race director, she created Huarache Turbo.
Huarache Turbo is a unique running event organization that blends Mexican folklore with running activities to create engaging and culturally enriched experiences. Founded by Ceci Iñiguez and her partner in crime, el Ro-hell-lio, Huarache Turbo started with the aim of making each race a fun and original event. Ceci, who has a background in communication arts and Spanish American literature, combined her passion for running with her cultural heritage to establish this distinctive series of events.
Their races often include themed runs such as the "Día de los Muertos Night Run," "La Llorona Run," and the "Loteria Run." Each event is designed not just as a competitive race but as a celebration, complete with costume contests, personalized bib numbers, handmade awards, and vibrant post-race fiestas. Participants are encouraged to dress up according to the theme, making the runs festive and lively.
The philosophy behind Huarache Turbo is to incorporate small, thoughtful details that make the experience memorable for everyone involved. This includes organizing training groups, offering tech t-shirts, and closing registrations once the t-shirts run out to maintain exclusivity and excitement.
"Dress up for the ocacion, run with your friends and stay for our fiesta!"
